Benefits of OFE Ecclesiastical Affiliation Charter Membership
We establish Ecclesiastical Affiliation Charters with monasteries, abbeys, churches, hermitages, congregations, missions, archdioceses, and dioceses to help them fulfill their respective missions.
Each charter member will operate independently, maintaining their current system of disciplines and teachings.
They accept the authority of the Order of Franciscans Ecumenical over all matters of Faith and Practices.
The charter member may not legally or financially obligate the Order of Franciscans of the Ecumenical in anyway.
If you would like to establish an Ecclesiastical Affiliation Charter, please contact the Minister General and use the Contact page on our website.

On Sunday, January 8, 2017, Epiphany of the Lord, the OFE formed its third ecclesiastical affiliation charter with the Hermitage of Saint Tekakwitha, which is in Madison, Ohio, USA. The hermitage is under the administration of Hermits of Divine Mercy.
Reverend Father William Seuffert, HDM, founder of the Hermitage, also founded the Hermits of Divine Mercy as a contemplative Roman Catholic religious order of monks and nuns. HDM provides a community for men, women, and married couples who are 50 years of age, or older and who are normally excluded by other orders because of infirmity, age or marital status. They live a hermits’ lives of prayer and never leave their homes, a new concept in monastic living. They follow the rule of Saint Benedict and Mount Carmel spirituality. Each home is a personal hermitage and is part of the larger community of Hermits of Divine Mercy. Like traditional orders, they also take vows of poverty, chastity, and obedience. For married people, chastity means a strengthening of the marriage vows. Poverty in all ways includes good stewardship of monies and obedience to Church and superiors.
Hermits of Divine Mercy ministerial mission is Trinitarian in structure: first, they pray for religious, priest, and all clergy; second, to bring God’s mercy to everyone through teaching the Chaplet of Divine Mercy to all and praying the Chaplet; third, to assist the church as needed even though they are mainly a contemplative religious order. The Chaplet of the Divine Mercy is a Christian devotion based on the visions of Jesus as reported by Saint Mary Faustina Kowalska (1905-1938), known as “the Apostle of Mercy.” She was a Polish sister of the Congregation of the Sisters of Our Lady of Mercy, and canonized as a Catholic saint in 2000.
Note: The chaplet is a Roman Catholic prayer form in the Roman Catholic Church, often said as a rosary-based prayer with the same set of rosary beads used for reciting the Holy Rosary or the Chaplet of Holy Wounded.
